Who We Are?

My Portion Inc, is a Food Pantry Plus, registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. 

We are in the business of obtaining and transporting donated items 

such as Food, Clothing, Furniture, and basic essential items to those in need all while installing Hope. We service several towns within the Hartford, Middlesex, and New Haven Counties. 

Our Motto is; "The Heart That Keeps On Giving."

Why do we do what we do?

Food insecurity is defined as a lack of consistent access to enough food for every person in a household to live an active, healthy life. My Portion Inc is taking on the Food Insecurity within our communities by providing spaces and opportunities for those in need. “If you can't feed a hundred people, then feed just one.” –Mother Teresa.

In the past we worked with the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP). Which allowed My Portion Inc to promote and register applicants to join the EFNEP program (at no cost). This program assists with educating families on the importance of nutritious meals utilizing what most Food Pantries have available. We hope to ease the tensions of Food Insecurities and Provide Healthy Alternatives of meal choices by live streaming meal preps, recipes, and more. In addition to that, My Portion Inc, has developed relationships with other businesses and we are able to provide clothing, shoes, and books to those in need at no charge. 

What do we do?

Every Week, My Portion provides food to families in and around New Britain, residents at the YMCA in New Britain, Shelters in Hartford, Middletown, Bristol and other locations. We also get emergency calls from individuals that are in need of assistance with obtaining food.

Once a month, we host a POP-UP Pantry Event at the New Britain Library in the Community Room. Each month we have recorded over 140 souls for each event, where we were able to provide Free Food, Basic Home Essentials, New and slightly used Clothing for Women Men and Children, Diapers, etc..

We also have furniture, Sporting equipment (Camping, Fishing ,Golfing etc), Lawn Equipment, Appliances and more.

My Portion Inc. has a Mascot, ” The Bunny of Hope. “ The Bunny of Hope hops around community's town by town giving out messages of HOPE and a variety of gifts from free oil changes, meal coupons for a variety of restaurants, Beauty/ Barber coupons, Gym memberships and more.

At the end of the day, we want to be of service to those in our communities. Easing the pressure of food insecurities, educating our clients about nutrition and life skills and providing a welcoming environment filled with love and compassion.
